The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic professional to join our dynamic Product Engineering team.

As a vital member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the development of Better.co.uk’s authenticated customer flows and internal tools designed to streamline and manage mortgage application data. Your responsibilities will encompass both enhancing existing features and crafting innovative functionalities to elevate the overall product experience and driving improved conversion rates.

We are particularly interested in individuals who possess an established history as experienced full-stack engineers, showcasing a special inclination towards emphasising front-end development. Your discerning eye for design and dedication to delivering an exceptional user experience will set you apart.

In this role, you will be working extensively with cutting-edge technologies. Our front-end applications rely on React with TypeScript, leveraging the power of Gatsby and Next.js. We meticulously craft and evaluate UI components within Storybook before seamlessly integrating them into our UI applications. On the backend, our GraphQL and REST APIs are expertly constructed using TypeScript and NodeJS, bolstered by Aurora PostgreSQL.

Our technology stack is hosted on AWS through Elastic Kubernetes Service. We pride ourselves on a robust CI/CD pipeline powered by GitHub Actions and GoCD, featuring automated Docker builds and end-to-end deployments that culminate in seamless production releases. GitHub and JIRA are integral to our workflow, enabling effective task management and streamlined code hosting.

The Ideal Candidate

• Your experience should encompass developing high-quality applications in Node.js and React, along with expertise in React UI frameworks (Next.js, Gatsby) and backend API creation using REST or GraphQL, with TypeScript proficiency considered a plus.
• Proven expertise in designing and implementing unit and integration tests is essential.
• Your keen eye for detail translates design and requirements seamlessly into functional code. Familiarity with databases, especially Postgres, and a strong grasp of security and authentication principles are crucial.
• You're adept with Git, embracing solid source control practices.
• Your fluency in cloud technologies, notably services like Amazon S3, Azure Blob, Cloudfront, Cloudflare, and Fastly, is highly advantageous.
