DescriptionWe are looking for a talented intern to work in the DSP department at Better Dairy for 3 to 6 months. The role will draw on your knowledge of protein science & protein purification in a research environment.As part of the paid internship, you will gain exposure to a range of responsibilities involved in a start-up environment, with a particular emphasis on the scientific aspect. You will be part of a small team dedicated to downstream process ingredients produced by precision fermentation.The successful candidate will have a pioneer spirit, well suited to working in a start-up environment, and have a strong interest in food science and sustainable dairy production.We would love to meet candidates from a variety of backgrounds who have a passion for science and food.This role is based in our Hackney Wick office full time, though some remote working is possible.The successful candidate will be comfortable pitching in at every level and enjoys a high accountability/high autonomy environment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the team in developing novel methods for protein purification
- Support the team in downstream processes
- Collaborate with the team in investigating functionality of proteins
- Participate in scientific discussions, providing insights based on scientific knowledge
- Contribute to a high performance team culture.
- Currently in the final year or have completed an undergraduate or master’s degree in Process Engineering or Biochemistry or any relevant area. PhD student applications are also welcome
- Experience in protein purification and protein biochemistry
- Strong interest in dairy science
- Good communication and numeracy skills
